Training is trauma - Mobility is Medicine
Mobility is the wellspring of movement - the origin of Simple Strength.
Mobility is freedom. Flexibility is about muscles and tendons. Mobility is all about joints. When our joints become compromised even a simple restriction in movement can have debilitating, long term implications. Our bodies naturally work as a whole unit but to regain mobility often requires isolating individual areas of weakness and establishing a full range of motion.
For the body to move coherently requires a comprehensive vocabulary of mobility. You achieve this with simple drills, performed slowly to lubricate the joints and regain fluid, balanced movement.
We can adopt and adapt from any of the traditions that offers benefit to the way we move. Many cultures have tried and tested methods that promote mobility, movement and strength - Yoga, Tai Chi and Zdorovye for example. No school has a monopoly on movement.
"Only those who have the
patience to do simple things perfectly will
acquire the skill to do difficult things
easily."
- J. Friedrich von Schiller
